ตะกร้าเกสร
ตะกร้าเกสร[1] (อังกฤษ: pollen basket, corbicula) เป็นโพรงที่ปกคลุมด้วยขนเล็ก ๆ อยู่ที่ขาคู่หลังท่อนล่าง ซึ่งผึ้งในวงศ์ย่อย Apinae ใช้เป็นที่เก็บเกสรดอกไม้กลับไปที่รัง[2][3] ส่วนผึ้งชนิดอื่นจะมีส่วนที่เรียกว่า scopa ซึ่งใช้เก็บเกสรเช่นกัน แต่จะมีลักษณะเป็นกลุ่มขนแทน
คำว่า "ตะกร้าเกสร" เริ่มใช้ครั้งแรกในสารานุกรมบริตานิกา ค.ศ. 1777 โดยเรียกแค่ว่า "ตะกร้า"[4] ในปี ค.ศ. 1802 วิลเลียม เคอร์บีได้เสนอคำว่า corbicula (มาจากคำในภาษาละติน corbis แปลว่า ตะกร้า) ซึ่งได้รับการยอมรับโดยทั่วไป[5] ต่อมาในปี ค.ศ. 1820 คำว่า "ตะกร้าเกสร" ก็เริ่มใช้ในหมู่คนเลี้ยงผึ้งอย่างแพร่หลาย[6]
