ความต้องการสภาพอากาศหนาวเย็น (อังกฤษ: Chilling requirement) สำหรับไม้ผลและไม้หัวคือระยะเวลาที่ต่อเนื่องในช่วงอุณหภูมิหนึ่งที่น้อยที่สุดของสภาพอากาศหนาวเย็นเพื่อทำลายการพักตัวให้พืชสามารถออกดอกได้[1][2] แต่สำหรับเมล็ดแล้วคือการใช้ความเย็นกระตุ้นให้เกิดการงอกต้นอ่อน
Chilling units หรือ chilling hours
[แก้]ในเกษตรกรรม Chilling unit คือหน่วยวัดช่วงเวลาที่พืชสัมผัสอากาศเย็นที่อุณหภูมิหนึ่ง คือ 7 องศาเซลเซียส (45 องศาฟาเรนไฮต์) หรือ 16 องศาเซลเซียส (60 องศาฟาเรนไฮต์) ขึ้นกับรูปแบบ[3] หนึ่ง chilling unit เท่ากับหนึ่งชั่วโมงโดยพื้นฐาน หากเป็นขั้นสูงต้องคำนึงถึงน้ำหนักและช่วงอุณหภูมิด้วย
